If your workers are exposed to noise above 85 dBA, the exposure limit in section 7.2 of the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, section 7.5 requires you to run a noise control and hearing conservation program. Section 7.8 requires a hearing test within six months of hire and at least every 12 months after that, and section 7.7 requires hearing protection. Hearing loss from noise happens so gradually that most people do not notice it, which is why the test is yearly.

It depends on your headcount, your shifts, and things on the day that neither of us controls, so we would rather plan it with you than promise a number. Every truck runs two booths in parallel, so two workers test at the same time, and we work with you on the order people come through so neither booth sits empty. We use pure-tone testing to find the faintest tone a person can hear at specific pitches. The worker sits in a sound-insulated booth wearing headphones, with a clicker to press whenever they hear a tone. The results are recorded on an audiogram and explained to the worker at the end of the test.

Yes. We are authorized by WorkSafeBC to conduct on-site testing, counsel workers, and submit test results. You also receive documentation for your own program file.

Yes, and most clients do. Booking all three at once means one interruption for your crew instead of three, and both the hearing conservation and respirator requirements are closed in the same visit.

Tell us your hours when you book. With two mobile units we have the flexibility to cover early, late and split shifts, and to schedule multiple locations efficiently.

The best hearing protection is the one a worker will wear consistently and properly. Custom moulded earplugs fit better and are more comfortable, and a set can last up to three years. Disposable plugs and earmuffs can protect just as well when worn, but communication demands, climate, and other personal protective equipment all affect whether they stay in. Matched with the right filter, custom plugs are made for the individual and the job.

Yes. We offer noise surveys that measure exposure by area and by job, so you know which workers the hearing conservation program has to cover. Many clients pair a survey with a testing visit. Our guide on what 85 dBA means explains the limit.
