Mobile hearing testing
Annual audiometric tests for your whole crew, two workers at a time, in sound-insulated booths that park at your door. Authorized by WorkSafeBC to test, counsel, and submit results.
What the regulation asks of you
Under section 7.5 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, an employer whose workers are exposed to noise above 85 dBA (the exposure limit in section 7.2) must establish and maintain a noise control and hearing conservation program. Section 7.8 sets the testing rule: each of those workers needs a hearing test within six months of hire and at least every 12 months after that, done by a WorkSafeBC-authorized tester who submits the results to WorkSafeBC.
We are authorized by WorkSafeBC to conduct that testing on site, counsel workers on their results, and submit the results to WorkSafeBC, so the annual requirement is handled in one visit.
How a test works
The worker sits in one of the two sound-insulated booths in the truck and puts on headphones. A WorkSafeBC-authorized technician plays a series of pure tones at different pitches and volumes, and the worker presses a button each time they hear one. The faintest tone heard at each pitch is recorded on an audiogram.
When the test is finished, the technician walks the worker through the result: what the audiogram shows, how it compares to last year, and what it means for how they protect their hearing.

Noise-induced hearing loss is permanent, and it builds so gradually that workers rarely notice until speech becomes hard to follow. A yearly audiogram shows the change while it is still small, which is the point at which fixing the exposure or the protection actually helps.
Testing on site means nobody drives to a clinic. With two booths running side by side, two workers test at the same time, and we work with you on the order people come through so both booths stay busy. How long a visit takes depends on your headcount and your site, but our whole approach is built around wasting as little of your time as possible.
